Chatting in campfire through AIR using Flex 3

So tonight has been quite the little experiment. The fact that Websense is an issue for my friend Cade where he works peaked my interests. And I was all like oh ok, well how about I will built you an AIR application using FLEX 3 that will allow you to poll for the updates in the Campfire manually, so that there are not so many requests going out every 2 seconds. Well unfortunately I have not gotten to the point that the requests run through a sort of “proxy” on jordanrounds.com or anything like that but I have successfully logged into campfire with my login credentials and also posted comments. I just thought it was pretty awesome that I was able to get that far in just one night. More later when I have something working and available for download.

Archy, rest in peace my little friend…

We got the call a bit ago that Archy didn’t make it. This totally sucks. He was one cool little dude. If you want to check out what Archy looked like he is right here in the third row down. (2 middle pictures)

Archy…..

Archy our Veiled Chameleon was taken to the animal hospital today. This morning when I woke up I discovered him on the bottom of his cage pretty much barely alive. I thought he was dead, but when I moved his vine he started to move around a tiny bit and opened his eyes. We called around for about 20 minutes and found a place where we could take him at 9 AM, and he is currently there. They tried to hydrate him, but they said he wasn’t responding well and told us they would try to get him warmed up and a bit more responsive before they would try anything else. The major thing he is going to go through is getting some blood drawn. We are still waiting for the call. More later…

Ken’s BDay

So last night Renee and I went down to the Princess Pub for Ken’s BDay. (Ken is a guy i work with) It was way fun. We drank a few Smithwicks and had a plate of little hamburger slider things. Needless to say Ken was a little more than messed up about an hour after we arrived. He was talking on his phone pretty much in a drunken sleep and then decided to take a nap on a nice cozy bench in the back of the bar. Mike, Lei and Lay (spelling?) arrived a bit later on about the time everyone else was leaving to go to the Starlight Lounge, so we all hang out a bit after the others left and had another drink. Renee being the wonderful responsible wife she is offered to be the DD and decided not to drink any more for the rest of the night. After that we walked what seemed to be far more than a mile to the Starlight Lounge on the end of India Street. I guess this place just opened a month or two ago, but it was awesome. The drinks were fabulous and you certainly got what you paid for. I myself drank two Miller High Lifes, which was probably a mistake and tasted terrible compared to the Smithwicks earlier in the night. We all sat out on the patio for an hour or two and started back to the car parked back at the Princess Pub a little before 2 AM. We got there, drove home and pretty much crashed until 11 AM the next day.

All Synthetic

So today I spent many hours out in the garage. I dropped Renee off at work around 2PM and then from there I headed over to Pep Boys to pick up a new oil filter for my bike. I also grabbed a pair of these gloves they had there that are oil resistant and were covered in a thin layer of rubber. They are designed to make it easy to grab and remove the old oil filter. Overall they worked awesome and were much less clumsy than an oil filter wrench. From there I headed over to Sears to get myself a new tool set, and then I went to Motoworld, which is near our house. I bummed around there a bit checking out a bunch of cruiser style bikes. The V Star seemed like a pretty nice bike. It was crazy comfortable. But after that I went and picked up some full synthetic Honda Pro oil and headed home. Changing the oil on my bike is a pretty quick process and those gloves made it even easier considering I did not have to shove a screwdriver into the filter this time to get it off. I then washed and waxed my bike and our car. Overall a pretty productive day. The switch to full synthetic is awesome. The bike shifts so much smoother now. I can not believe how big of a difference it is.

Zodiac

Last night Renee and I watched Zodiac. That movie was fantastic. I’m not sure what else to say about it other than it is a must see!

Friends

So last night after work around 6:30 PM Renee and I went to this mexican place by the mall that had a pretty awesome Happy Hour. They had free food until 7 and half price Margaritas. So for about $15 we got a couple of drinks and a meal. We went there to  meet up with some friends and also a friend we have not seen for about 2 years Shane, who moved to Indianapolis was in town. Overall it was a pretty good night. It was great to see Shane again. After that we went home and I started in working on cutting up my design of jordanrounds.com, but still have not gotten it up there yet.

Hookah!

So last night I was thinking. “I would really like to smoke the hookah….” And it then occurred to me that I broke our hookah a few months ago, so we decided to go to the cigar shop in the mall and pick one up. Unfortunately the cigar shop has now been closed because they put in some stupid hip hop urban clothing store. So we then ran over to Best Buy and grabbed a copy of Zodiac and the Simpson’s Movie soundtrack before we tried to find a new place to buy a hookah. Luckily we had the trusty iPhone, so we were able to find a hookah shop close by on El Cajon Blvd called Zodiac Hookah. At first we went in and all they had were $100 and $200 hookahs that were completely impractical, so we started talking to the guy and he showed us this one kind of hookah he sold for only $59. This thing is awesome. It is by far the best hookah I have ever used. When we got home we had some chicken tortilla soup and then I set up the hookah. We sat outside for a while smoking the hookah and I made sure to grab myself a beer. Renee went in soon after we started and she went to work on the laptop bag she is making. I sat outside for about 2 hours smoking the hookah and working on jordanrounds.com

EDIT: For those of you wondering. No, I don’t do drugs and no pot doesn’t go in the hookah. Just wanted to make that clear.
